Hitech Bullfrog GP secure 3rd place in the 2018 FIA F3 European Championship

Hitech Bullfrog GP clinched 3rd place in the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship in the last round of the season at Hockenheim, Germany. The squad took to the 4.574km long circuit, following 10 exhilarating rounds and 30 intense races. In a bid to secure every last point up for grabs, the drivers put on a stellar performance.

A battle for podiums and points

The weekend kicked off with the trio taking to the track bright and early on Friday morning, in a back-to-back free practice session, before the afternoon’s qualifying session got underway.

As the sun shone down on the iconic German circuit, the drivers got behind the wheel in a bid for their starting positions for Saturday and Sunday’s races. Alex stormed up the time sheets, finishing the twenty-minute session in P2 with a slim two-hundredths between him and the lead. Enaam qualified in P14 and Ben in P19.

As temperatures soared to the mid-twenties, the Silverstone outfit competed in the following qualifying session in their trio of Dallara Mercedes. Alex furthered his success from the morning, finishing the second qualifying session in P5, Enaam in P10 and Ben in P18.

It was all to play for in Saturday’s Race 1, with all drivers remaining competitive throughout the 33-minute (plus one lap) stint. Alex defended his position well claiming a P4 result, falling just short of a podium finish, with team mates Enaam clinching a P9 result and P14 for Ben.

Expertly holding off every advance during Race 2 and capitalising on their pace, all three drivers tussled towards the front of the pack in their last chance to bag some valuable points and extend their position in the championship standings. Finishing 8th, Alex took a top-ten result, whilst Ben finished in P13. Due to getting caught up with another car, Enaam had damage to the rear suspension and unfortunately did not classify in the penultimate race.

The boys fought an action-packed battle in the final race of the season, with Alex clinching a final podium finishing Race 3 in P3, Enaam in P8, and Ben in P19.

Hitech Bullfrog GP finished 3rd in the FIA F3 European team’s championship, with a total of 518 points. In the drivers’ championship, Alex Palou finished 7th, closely followed by Enaam Ahmed in 9th and Ben Hingeley classified 17th. Enaam claimed 3rd place in the Rookie championship, and Ben in 9th.
