Exciting young prospects Russell and Mazepin will each pilot Mercedes-powered Dallaras at four different venues over the coming weeks with visits to the Red Bull Ring in Austria, Monza in Italy, Germany’s Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
Russell heads into winter testing off the back of finishing an excellent sixth overall in his first year of FIA Formula 3 European Championship action, taking one victory in the process, while Mazepin is making the step-up from Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC) and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.
“It’s fantastic to have George and Nikita with the team for the start of our winter testing, we’re all really looking forward to working them”, said Hitech boss Oakes, “George had a great first season in FIA F3 this year and having won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award previously – not to mention his glittering karting career – his talent is clear to see.
“Nikita doesn’t have the experience of the F3 car, coming in fresh from Formula Renault, but he’s developing his skills and pace very quickly and sharing data with a driver like George will be a huge benefit to him. Of course, it goes without saying how much we’re all looking forward to working with John McGill. The experience he brings to Hitech GP is invaluable.”
